Director of Events & Sales
THE ROLE
The Director of Events & Sales will build and lead BIBA’s private events business from the ground up, driving revenue through member-hosted events, corporate business, buyouts, and a selective number of outside events that can introduce prospective members to the Club. Before opening, this person will establish the sales foundation, build a strong pipeline, and develop the relationships that will drive the business from day one.
This is a revenue-accountable role first and a production role second. The Director will own the commercial cycle from generating demand and converting opportunities through to the handoff for execution, while coordinating room blocks for the boutique hotel in partnership with the front desk / rooms team. The role works closely with the Managing Director on commercial strategy and the F&B team on event execution, beginning as an individual contributor with the opportunity to build a team as the business grows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Opening & Build
- Establish BIBA's sales infrastructure: event menus and packages, rate structure, contracts, booking and BEO systems, and the CRM sales pipeline.
- Build and grow the private event and group pipeline before opening, so the calendar has momentum on day one.
- Create the sales process end to end, from collateral and proposal templates through inquiry, contracting, handoff, execution, and follow-up.
- Partner with the Managing Director on revenue targets, pricing strategy, and the commercial plan through ramp-up.
Market & Relationship Development
- Leverage the member network as the primary source of event business, identifying opportunities for members and their companies to host, entertain, celebrate, and do business at BIBA.
- Pursue select non-member events that fit BIBA's positioning and create a meaningful opening to membership, while keeping outside business selective so the Club never becomes an open-to-the-public venue.
- Represent BIBA in the market and cultivate relationships that create the right opportunities, not simply more volume.
Private Events & Sales
- Lead the full sales cycle for private events and buyouts, from inquiry and site visit through proposal, contract, close, and follow-up.
- Sell BIBA's private dining and event spaces across the property: BIBA, MayaBay, The Libraries & Lounge, The Palm Court, The Rooftop, and the Pool.
- Deliver against revenue, booking, and conversion targets while maintaining an accurate, active pipeline.
Group & Room Blocks
- Coordinate room blocks for events, buyouts, and group business in partnership with the front desk / rooms team.
- Support event-related and corporate stays and the client experience.
Event Handoff & Delivery
- Manage the transition from sold to execution, ensuring BEOs, timelines, floor plans, and client details are accurate and clearly communicated.
- Partner with the Director of F&B and F&B Managers, who oversee menus, staffing, and execution, through event planning and service.
- Serve as the client's primary point of contact throughout planning and, where appropriate, on event day.
- Capture feedback to strengthen repeat business and referrals.
Revenue & Commercial Management
- Oversee event and group revenue reporting, forecasting, and pacing against target.
- Set event pricing, minimums, and deposits in partnership with F&B, Finance, and the Managing Director, with a focus on profitability.
- Keep contracts, deposits, and billing accurate and on schedule.
- Monitor pipeline performance, conversion, and average spend to inform future business.
Brand & Standards
- Bring BIBA's character, atmosphere, and point of view into the sales process, so prospective clients understand what makes an event here different before they book it.
- Protect the balance between commercial opportunity and the day-to-day experience of members and guests.
