Job Title: JJ’s Mercantile Manager Position Summary The JJ’s Mercantile Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily retail operations, event space, bakery & grab & go driving sales performance, managing inventory, and leading a high-performing team. This role requires strong knowledge of retail management, financial accountability, Shopify operations, recruiting and training staff, and coordinating private retail events to enhance customer engagement and revenue. Key Responsibilities Retail Operations & Management
Manage day-to-day store operations to ensure an exceptional customer experience
Implement and maintain retail management best practices, policies, and procedures
Ensure store appearance, merchandising standards, and operational efficiency
Inventory Management
Oversee inventory planning, ordering, receiving, and stock control
Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
Monitor sell-through, shrink, and stock levels to optimize product availability
Financial Management (P&L)
Manage store-level profit and loss (P&L) performance
Analyze sales reports, margins, and expenses to drive profitability
Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed revenue and cost targets
E-commerce & Shopify
Manage and maintain Shopify POS and online store operations
Coordinate in-store and online inventory alignment
Utilize Shopify reporting tools to track sales, customer data, and performance
Team Leadership & Recruiting
Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and retain retail staff
Create schedules, manage performance, and conduct reviews
Foster a positive, accountable, and sales-driven team culture
Private Events & Customer Engagement
Plan, promote, and execute private shopping events, trunk shows, and VIP experiences
Partner with marketing and leadership teams to drive event sales and brand awareness
Build and maintain strong customer relationships to grow repeat business
Qualifications
Proven experience in retail management
Strong knowledge of inventory control and retail operations
Experience in managing P&L and financial reporting
Proficiency with Shopify POS and e-commerce platforms
Demonstrated success in recruiting, training, and leading teams
Experience planning and executing private retail events preferred
